Iron Man
Last night I watched the DVD of “Iron Man”, starring Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark, Jeff Bridges as his business partner and Gwyneth Paltrow as his perky red haired personal assistant Pepper Potts. Iron Man is a Marvel Comics franchise, a super hero movie in a long line of new super hero movies, some have been good, some not so good, I guess I would place Iron Man somewhere in the middle, its not a bad movie.
The story goes that Tony Stark (Downey), an inventor of weapons, industrialist and arms dealer is captured by terrorists after seeing his weapons used against American soldiers, he invents a robotic suit to escape and decides not to manufacture weapons any more. He then uses the suit (upgraded version) to fight the terrorists and an enemy who comes up with his own larger robotic suit.
I watched it without becoming bored and I guess enjoyed it, the effects were good, there were some exciting scenes and it was funny in parts, the players were ok, but, I just simply thought it could have been better, it could have been more fun, I thought the script could have been better and I certainly thought there could have been more action and excitement in it, it is after all a super hero action movie, saying that it wasn’t bad.
All in all then my own personal opinion is it wasn’t bad but was slightly disappointing because I think it could have been so much better.
