The Weekend of Jacko’s Demise
This was the weekend following the death (on Thursday) of Michael Jackson, I was expecting a plethora of Jacko shows, tributes and the like on the TV and they didn’t let me down.
On Saturday the weather had a bit of a change, the sky had been grey all morning and it looked like it may rain at some point, so why was I still absolutely red hot (yes I know girls, I’ve always been hot stuff, thank you), I thought that perhaps there may be an electric storm in the air, of course I’ve been wrong before. And I was wrong again, the sun came out around mid afternoon and it got hotter still. After being sunny, and of course hot for a few hours, just before 6:00 pm it went grey again and then on six o’clock the heavens opened, it absolutely persisted it down, it was bouncing, it did stop within the hour and was just as hot and humid as ever afterwards and remained that way during the night.
Saturday was in fact notable for the amount of Michael Jackson based programs on the TV, all the major channels had them in abundance, perhaps over abundance, but it was inevitable wasn’t it. Just as inevitable is the glut of new Jacko albums that are bound to appear pretty swiftly, greatest hit compilations will be the bulk but there will also be the inevitable “previously unreleased material” albums, these can sometimes be ok because there is often some new stuff that hadn’t appeared yet, or one or two gems that for some reason just never made it to record, but come on guys, a lot of the stuff on these albums is like “do you know why this was previously unreleased, because it wasn’t bloody good enough to be released in the first place”, you’ll see.
I slept on and off during the night, due to the heat no doubt, but then woke with indigestion in the early hours of Sunday morning and that was me out of bed and up for the day. I was already kinda planning on working Sunday morning so thought “now I’m up I may as well get my sorry ass into work” and that’s just what I did.
I just got home from working my Sunday morning, well the main part of it, I did nearly four hours and I’d had enough, its an absolute scorcher again today, sun shining and red hot.
Early on this evening there was a Super League game on TV featuring the wonderful Wigan Warriors against Hull KR and what a good game it was, with the right result as well, a win for Wigan, this was followed by the Confederation Cup Final, USA against Brazil, a win for Brazil but what a fright the USA gave them in the first half.
Its now 11:00 pm Sunday night and its absolutely bloody roasting, its so hot and humid, I’m pretty sure its just getting hotter and hotter, anyway that’s been my weekend and that’s it for now, I’ll say bye and see ya next time folks.

Interesting how the world responds to MJ’s death. I first heard the news on Twitter, then followed Facebook friends’ responses – ranging from mourning to criticism – as the news broke.
In an age where we all have become more visible thanks to the internet, the life and death of someone like Jackson is a stark reminder of what how much joy a shared talent can bring, but also of how heroes stumble over feet of clay.
May he finally rest in peace.
Marie,
Your right reactions vary an awful lot, the criticisms and sick jokes are not for me really although to be honest I won’t be mourning either, I reserve my mourning for people I actually know, I did another post which goes deeper into the matter here
